Dress - vintage (70s Jonathan Logan), thrifted
Shoes - thrifted
Yesterday we went out to the little town in the country where my mum lives. The weather has returned to its semi-autumnal state after the glorious sunshine on Saturday, but I think I photosynthesised enough then to keep me going for a few days.
I'm starting on the edits for The Cry of the Go-away Bird very soon - the marked-up manuscript is in the post and on its way to me! I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in to them ... but I would really love to have the revisions on my current book nearly finished before it arrives, as it will be difficult juggling the two. I am heartily sick of my work-in-progress (which is natural; you always reach this stage), but there is still a lot of work to be done on it.
In other exciting news, my publishers are starting work on the cover design for Go-away Bird this week! I can't wait to see the options. I needed to send them an author photo, and so LOML took some shots for me yesterday while we were visiting Mum. These are my three favourites - it's exciting to think that one of these could, potentially, be looking up at me from a book cover soon!

wow, this is so exciting!! Will you get to post the cover when you get the options or wait until the book is completely ready?
All three pictures are great! I think the last one is best :)
Thanks, Kate! I won't be able to post cover options until it is finalised, as the cover will be commercially sensitive.
It's up to the publishers to choose one from these three ... I like all of them, and so far everyone who's seen them has had a different favourite. :) I'd be happy with whichever one they chose.
A xx
Great photos! You should start a poll for people to try and guess which one they choose! Haha! I'd guess...one of the last two. :)
They are all lovely :) I love the last one the most, and I adore that head piece! It's divine! Eeek so exciting about your cover, I can't wait to see the finished copy when it comes out :) xxxxx
Snap! My author photo features my lovely peacock feather headpiece from Diva. :-) I couldn't use the photos for the actual MH book because that needed to be black and white, but I used them for my publicity shots.
How exciting! I can't wait to read your book once it's on the shelves.
My favourite picture is the last one. The headpiece is gorgeous.
This is so exciting! I do hope your book makes its way to American shores! I think my my favourite photo is the second one.
i like your outfit kisses from spain
So many congratulations!!!
I like No 3 best. But if you (or your Mr) was feeling tricky, you could make it black and white, and then just pick out the colours in your lovely red lips and your peacock feathers.
Congrats again ^_^
Great outfit! Love the peacock feathers and your shoes!!
love your dress, such a unique silouhette
The last photo is my favorite!
Can't wait till your book hits stores! I just hope I can get a copy here in Canada!!

BIG CONGRATS!!!! And big celebratory HUGS!! Woot!!
This is a BIG Deal, girlie!! I am so excited for you.
(i too love all 3 photos, love the lipstick!...but if i were a beaten' gal, i'd say #3 is what the pubs will choose.)
Go Andrea!!
Cheers,
Lola
You look very lovely. And I love the headband!!!
SO exciting! You look lovely, I love the feather headband :)
And I am getting excited about Autumn!
That's wonderful that progress on your book is coming along - will you be sharing the book cover with us when it's finished?
The color of your eyes pop SO much from that peacock feather headband. So beautiful.
Oh, I'm so glad for you, dear!!!
You look lovely but maybe I like the best, for a cover, the first picture.
Will you share it with us when it's done? I'll look forward...
All the best, beautiful...
xoxo
These are so beautiful! I'm so excited for you!
Hooray! You look so adorable! That's one of my favorite of your tops - just beautiful!
Best of luck on finishing the other book for the arrival of Book 1!

I like the first one but I think They will pick #3 :)
I love all your pictures..they have great clarity, you look FAB.
How exciting!!! I vote for the last picture, though they are all really pretty :)
I love the first photo the best but they are all gorgeous. How exciting it must be to choose these pics. And I hope you can show us your cover options when you receive them!
Congrats on all the progress being made on the Go-away Bird. I really like the last photo.
What lovely headshots! I think they would look wonderful on a book sleeve or back cover :) The second one is my favourite.
--xo.
We'll have to see which one they choose. I like all three for different reasons, so wouldn't mind. :)
For those of you who have asked: the book will be published in America, but a bit later than in the UK. I don't know exactly when, yet, but I'll let you know when I do!
A couple of you have asked if I will be able to post the cover options for you to see when I receive them. I'm afraid I won't be able to - not only will the covers be commercially sensitive, they will be someone's intellectual property! So you won't see anything until the cover is finalised and made public, but I'll definitely post the final one for you to see.
Rachael - what a coincidence! That's cool. :)
Thanks, everyone, for the kind words! :)

beautiful portrait shots! I love the first one best :)

These photos are so beautiful! I'm excited that your book is coming out... I'll definitely get a copy! All the portraits are gorgeous, but my favorite is 2 because of the wind in your hair... it gives the photo a little bit of movement.

Oh I can't pick! I like them all so much!
I love the feathers. I nearly bought some myself last week but I changed my mind and bought a grey/silver pill box thing. Way less useful. I don't what I was thinking.
Oh I just love your blog! I hardly get a chance to comment because my internet in Melbourne is so precarious but I always read it! Every day!

I forgot to ask. Will your book be available in Australia or will I have to buy it from the UK/US.
Aw, your pictures are so beautiful! They make me miss New Zealand so much! I'm probably way off here, but is that Blenheim? :)
Congratulations on all of your exciting book progress, that's fantastic!
I love the first street shot, great location! And I'm so glad you started posting where your items are from, that headband is gorgeous, and from Diva!
The last picture is my fav, but they are all lovely. How exciting!
I love the outdoor outfit shot - you should do this more often!
And I would totally pick the first picture - they're all lovely, but I think the top one has a 'classic' quality about it whilst still being completely cool and 'you' :-)
I absolutely LOVE your headband.
Plus the headshots are great - I think number 2 looks the most authorly. (Yes, I did just make that word up).
Katie xo
You look so adorable and cute and the landscape behind your back is something unbelievable.
You look stunning! Good luck with all of the book edits!
Oh wow, I'm so excited about your book! And all of those pictures are lovely.
Such splendiferous photos lady! Love them!
That first photo of you is absolutely lovely! Congrats on the upcoming book cover design!
This is so exciting! I am very excited for you. Lots of hard work ahead I am sure with revising the revisions (is that even a sentence?!) alongside the new book but attack them both with a cheery heart! And all the pics look lovely, for some reason I think the third one. Or maybe the first. Or that nice second one. :)
Ooo, my word verification is 'Denise'!
Yay, how exciting! I have been thinking about this for a while now, but it is almost comical how excited I am about your book coming out. I have been reading your blog for so long that I almost feel like a close friend is getting a book published. Lucky me that it will be out in the US! :)
Thanks so much, everyone! I really appreciate your comments and kind words. :)
Icy - I'm not actually sure what's happening with Oz. I'll ask.
Corinne - no, it's in Canterbury! :) Beautiful, eh?
Sarj - I'd like to, but I can only do these on weekends. Weekdays = work = busy = not enough time to take shots outdoors.
Lady Smaggle - I completely understand! I rarely get a chance to comment on all my daily reads. Am thrilled you're reading, though. Loved your latest post!
The Waves - aw, that's lovely, though! I'm glad you feel that way.
So incredibly exciting! I love all three - that headband is fantastic. Congratulations again - I am thrilled for you!
Congratulations Andrea! So many exciting things happening for you!! Can I add my vote - if such a thing is taking place - for the first photo, it's really stunning.
Thanks, guys!
Just thought I'd reiterate for everyone - I don't know exactly what's happening with publication outside the UK yet, but I will keep you updated when I find out.

Andrea - Will I be able to buy this book in NZ?
how funny! my eyes got ahead of my text reading and when i saw the first of the three headshots I thought "ooo..that would be great for Author Pic on the sleeve of her book!" then I finished reading and didn't feel like such a genius any more :) But I do really love that first one! gorgeous.
Speaking of gorgeous - these past two post are making me want to visit NZ!
And finally, I can't imagine putting cover art into the hands of others - Im such a control freak about that stuff. But then, I suppose it's nice having a few people to help with that. I can imagine it would be extremely time consuming!
Ally - hehe :)
Reckless Daughter - the thing is, it's not my choice whether to do the cover art or not - it's entirely under the publisher's control. Authors rarely do their own cover art, although it is more common with self-published books. So it's not that I'm have chosen to get people to help with it - it's their job! :) The decision has been made for me. And I'd much rather have it in the hands of a professional than attempt to do something myself. I know they're going to do a fantastic job.

Congratulations, that's so exciting! And you look so pretty!
Btw, I just wanted to let you know I have passed on two awards to you "The Beautiful Blog" award and "The Creative Blogger" award. If you like, you may post 7 facts about yourself, and then pass on the awards to 7 other bloggers. :)
xoxo
Congratulations on another big milestone!
I so enjoy your posts for the optimism and encouragement that seems to come so naturally to you-- I love your outfit posts, but as a writer, I take a great deal of inspiration from hearing about your process, your "daily writing life," and getting an inside peek to celebrating your victories wiht you. So thanks for that--Keep itup!
Your face alone will sell the books chicken licken

That's so exciting! I can't imagine how you must feel. Love the photos, too.

First image is gorgeus, makes me miss NZ. Your very talented AND beautiful! XO
Stunning! You look beautiful and the picture quality is superb.
I would frame that one of you on the road if I was you! Looks like something The Sartorialist would take. Kudos to your guy!
For the author pic, I love the third one the best. You look very relaxed and natural...your eyes are very "open" and you can really see *you* if you know what I mean...well, what I know of you through blogging anyways! :) <3
I bought that very same headband last week :) Peacocks are an obsession of mine!
I am so excited to read your book! :)
<3 xxx
This peacock thing is wonderful! The dress as well...
Dailee Dose - thank you, that's very kind of you!
Onefootonshore - that means a lot - thanks so much!
Thanks you, everyone!
Wow, gorgeous photos. That hairband matches your eyes to perfection. I would choose the last one; the background is prettiest and your smile looks most angelic.
Lovely photographs! I was wondering if I could post nr. 4 on my blog in order to recommend your blog to my readers? I wont use the photograph until you say it's OK. And if you don't approve, I totally understand! Then I'll just link to your blog without adding any image... :)
