ChristChurch Cathedral

Photo: John Kirk-Anderson for The Press

Some more sad news from earthquake-stricken Christchurch - the iconic Cathedral in the centre of the city has been deemed too dangerous, and is going to be demolished. With all the aftershocks and quakes following the big ones, it just doesn't seem safe for people to be working on the building in an attempt to restore or rebuild it.

oh, God, oh God! I am so sorry for you to lose one of your oldest, most important historical markers! This cathedral has such a close association in my mind with Christchurch NZ and I have never even set foot there! I don't know why I should have such feeling for it, but my empathy for you and this little piece of architecture is so strong...

I know, it's really, really sad, but at the same time, I definitely think it's the right decision.
