On my morning run, I spotted this little Bambi on the side of the road. She (he?) had an injured leg - just a scrape, but I'm not particularly well-versed in white-tailed deer injuries. I called the Austin Wildlife Rescue (who are just great, by the way), and they told me to flush the wound out with water and leave her where she was, as it would probably heal just fine. I gave her a bit to drink, as well, and sat with her until she got up and started walking again. I'm not sure what happened - a run-in with a car? - but she was very sweet and didn't mind me hanging out with her on the grass. I love having all these deer wandering about on our street.

Oh the poor deer! Heh! What a sweet little thing. Good on you for calling for help, and I hope it heals well. Must have been quite a magical experience to sit so close to one.
Isn't she gorgeous? It was such a lovely experience.
